Deck Enclosure · Carolina Room Conversion
The Challenge
The homeowner’s wife lives with chronic asthma and a lung condition that makes prolonged outdoor exposure difficult. Pollen, humidity, and environmental triggers affect her breathing, turning what should be a simple pleasure into a genuine health concern. The existing screened deck allowed airflow but offered no protection from the elements that aggravated her condition.
Her husband wanted her to enjoy the outdoors again, safely. This project was never about adding square footage to the home. It was about restoring quality of life. He envisioned a space where she could see their backyard, feel the natural light, and breathe comfortably, all within a climate-controlled enclosure designed around her well-being.
The purpose was deeply personal. Every decision that followed was shaped by devotion, practicality, and the belief that thoughtful design can give back what illness takes away.

The 3-Phase Process
Phase 1
Design
Before any construction began, a rendering service agreement was completed and signed. This step ensured that both the homeowner and our team shared a clear, documented vision for the finished space. There was no ambiguity.
LiDAR scanning technology was used to capture exact measurements of the existing deck and surrounding structure. From those scans, 3D renderings were produced that allowed the homeowner to see the completed room in full detail before a single board was cut. Window placement was intentionally designed to maximize natural light while maintaining climate control throughout the year.
Exterior siding and trim were specified to match the existing home exactly, ensuring that the addition would read as an original part of the architecture rather than a later modification. The interior layout was focused on calm, visibility, and comfort. Subtle navy accents were woven into the design, reflecting the homeowner’s Dallas Cowboys pride without overpowering the room’s refined aesthetic.
Design Renderings
Every detail was visualized and approved before construction began. No guesswork. Complete clarity.
- LiDAR scanning for precise measurements
- 3D renderings before construction
- Seamless siding and trim integration
- Windows positioned for natural light and climate control
- Subtle navy accents honoring Dallas Cowboys pride
- Layout focused on calm, visibility, and comfort
Thinking About What Your Home Could Look Like?

Design first. Contract second. Construction third.
Construction began with structural reinforcement of the existing deck to support the new enclosed space. The framing was carefully integrated into the home’s existing roofline, ensuring that the addition read as an original part of the structure rather than a later modification.
Every element was built to code: insulated walls, properly framed window openings, and weather-tight construction throughout. Climate control was central to the build, given the homeowner’s health requirements. The exterior siding was matched precisely to the existing home, with clean trim lines and balanced proportions that maintained architectural continuity.
During the project, a medical pause required the timeline to be adjusted. Our team coordinated the interruption with professionalism and care, keeping the job site clean and maintaining respectful conduct throughout. Work resumed when the time was right, and the project was completed efficiently despite the necessary interruptions.

Phase 3
Enjoy
The family now spends more time in their Carolina Room than in the rest of the house. That single detail says everything about what this space has become. It is calm. It is bright. And it is theirs.
Natural light fills the room throughout the day, shifting gently as the hours pass. The backyard remains fully visible through the windows, offering the beauty of the outdoors without the health risks that once kept the homeowner inside. The couple can sit together, enjoy the view, and feel the openness of nature from a space that protects rather than exposes.
Indoor greenery softens the architecture and brings life into every corner. A wall-mounted television makes for quiet evenings. Comfortable seating and personal touches create a sanctuary that feels open yet secure, vibrant yet peaceful. In the homeowner’s own words: if you are considering this kind of work and you do not call this team, you are making a mistake.
The Solution
- Year-round enclosed living
- Protection from environmental triggers
- Clear sight lines to the backyard
- Seamless architectural integration
- Code-compliant construction
- Personal identity reflected in design
When intentional design meets genuine purpose, the result is more than a room. It is restored access to a way of living that illness had quietly taken away. This Carolina Room gave back the outdoors, on the homeowner’s terms
In Their Own Words
Homeowner Testimonial

Graceful Transitions
From the outside, the Carolina Room appears as though it has always been part of the home. The siding was carefully matched in profile and color. Trim lines carry through cleanly from the original structure into the addition, creating visual continuity that speaks to the quality of the integration.
Balanced proportions, consistent window heights, and thoughtful roofline alignment ensure that the addition enhances the home’s character rather than competing with it. The brick-to-siding transitions are clean and deliberate. The result is an exterior that reads as whole, purposeful, and architecturally unified.
Spacious Serenity
The seating layout encourages both connection and solitude. Comfortable wicker furniture frames a central conversation area, while a bistro set near the windows offers a quieter space for morning coffee or reading. The room breathes with generous proportions and thoughtful furniture placement.
Windows on three sides frame the backyard like living artwork, shifting with the seasons and the light. Indoor greenery softens the enclosure and brings warmth to every corner. A mounted television provides for quiet evenings together. The space feels open yet secure, a place where the outdoors is always present but never threatening.
